Quality certified by ISO
The ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is an international certification body with an established network in over 150 countries. Founded in 1947, ISO stipulates technical certification standards with the aim of guaranteeing that companies have an efficient and effective quality system.

- measuring and monitoring processes using indicators;
- standardizing all processes related to the final product;
- conducting quality audits;
- ensuring that the company implements continuous improvement processes.

- minimum qualifications required of translators and revisers;
- project management processes;
- linguistic quality assurance processes;
- data protection and recovery procedures.
ISO 18587
This standard for translation service providers, their clients and post-editors is only applicable to content processed by MT (machine translation) systems.
ISO 18587 certification establishes that various requirements must be satisfied in the delivery of MT services, including:
- providing requirements for the process of full, human post-editing of machine translation output and post-editors' competences;
- defining full post-editing versus light post-editing;
- minimum education and experience qualifications for proofreaders;
- requiring training to properly use tools and address errors.
ISO and Terralíngua
Terralíngua has been ISO 9001 certified since 2010. Under this standard, the company is required to implement internal audits and undergo surveillance audits conducted by an international certification body on an annual basis. The purpose of these audits is to verify that the company's documented processes and its daily procedures are in compliance, from receipt of a project up to delivery to the customer.
In 2017, we also obtained ISO 17100 certification, demonstrating our efficiency in handling translation projects and the high quality of our work. The annual audits will now also encompass the latest certification in order to demonstrate Terralíngua's dedication and commitment to customer satisfaction and the continuous improvement of our processes.
The ISO 17100 is for professional human translation only. Protocols regarding machine translation (MT) is not included in the scope of this certification.
In response to industry changes and advances regarding technology, Terralingua obtained the ISO 18587 in 2020. This certification addresses the quality assurance protocols required for translated MT generated content. Terralíngua only utilizes professional machine translation for specific projects and clients, based upon the need. Clients are educated and aware of the advantages and disadvantages of employing this method for translated content.
In practice, our adherence to the standard protocols means permanently adopting a self-critical approach. We are continually seeking improvements to provide better quality, reduce delivery times, and minimize costs. In practice, this means permanently adopting a self-critical approach, continually looking for areas that can be improved in order to provide better quality, reduce delivery times and minimize costs. This creates a virtuous circle of reinvesting time and resources, resulting in growth for the company, better customer service and greater professional growth for staff.
Moreover, some ISO certifications are required for complying with various customers’ internal standards, in addition to demanding certification of suppliers.
